Court Reviews Prosecutor's Request to Detain Alexander Petrosyan, Known as Alik
The General Jurisdiction Court of Yerevan, presided over by Judge Artak Tadevosyan, has been reviewing for several hours the Special Investigation Service's request to use detention as a measure of restraint against Alexander Petrosyan, known as Alik.
Petrosyan is accused of aiding money laundering. According to sources from the law enforcement system, the criminal case is related to a case against former Minister of Environment Aram Harutyunyan.
Petrosyan had previously been detained in connection with the case but is currently at liberty. Judge Artak Tadevosyan examined the defense attorney's appeal against the detention decision last night and deemed the detention unlawful.
Petrosyan's son, Makar Petrosyan, was also detained but is currently free and waiting outside the court. When questioned about how he came to be at liberty and whether his appeal against the detention had been considered by the court, Makar Petrosyan stated that he did not find it appropriate to comment at this time, but indicated they would issue a statement if necessary.
Alexander Petrosyan also declined to answer questions from the media.
It should be noted that the Special Investigation Service has not provided any comments regarding the case involving Alexander Petrosyan and his son.
