Current Authorities Will Not Be Reelected in 2026 Parliamentary Elections: Kocharyan
The current authorities will not be reelected in the parliamentary elections scheduled for 2026. This was stated by the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, at a press conference. Kocharyan's opinion is based on the results of sociological surveys.
“The re-election of Nikol Pashinyan is a stretch of zero,” he said, responding to a question about whether he would withdraw from politics if Pashinyan is reelected.
According to Robert Kocharyan, Pashinyan will enter the elections with a thesis of peace, while in reality, there is no peace. “What should he talk about, democracy? He imprisons two sacred figures, as well as Samvel Karapetyan and various community leaders,” noted Kocharyan.
In response to the assertion that the authorities consider the current opposition as a “treasure” that will guarantee their reelection, Robert Kocharyan replied, “There is no social justice, as we look at the level of poverty, which he acknowledged at 24 percent and is still at 24 percent. I’m not even talking about corruption. The one who leads the fight against corruption has headed the corruption. There has never been such embezzlement of $65 million in the history of Armenia as with ANIF. The opposition can also claim that Nikol Pashinyan's government is a treasure because the government has nothing to say.”
At the same time, Kocharyan urged not to attribute the term “treasure” to him.
