Russia's Foreign Ministry Demands Explanation from Germany

German officials are refusing to directly explain why the country's authorities are completely destroying, and have largely already destroyed, relations with Russia. This was stated by Oleg Tyapkin, the director of the Third European Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"This is a very sad situation, as the government and the ruling elite are actively destroying everything that was built by generations of our predecessors—diplomats, entrepreneurs, journalists, political scientists, and representatives of civil society. Everything has been frozen—economic relations, humanitarian contacts," he said.

According to the diplomat, German interlocutors are even compelled to mention that they are forgetting about the historical reconciliation between Russians and Germans, which was achieved with great difficulty after 1945.
