Russia Responsible for Drones Intruding into Germany's Airspace, Merz Says

The Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, has stated that he suspects Russia is responsible for the numerous drones observed in Germany's airspace this past weekend, including those that disrupted dozens of flights and left over 10,000 passengers stranded at Munich Airport.

He added that the frequency of such incidents in European airspace is unprecedented, even compared to the Cold War years, although none of the drones discovered thus far have been armed; all have conducted reconnaissance flights.

"We suspect that Russia is behind the majority of these unmanned aerial vehicles," Merz noted. Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously denied any connection to these incidents.
