European Commission President: Russia's Authorities Are Setting a 'Trap' for Me

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has complained that attempts to initiate a vote of no confidence against her in the European Parliament are, allegedly, a 'trap' set by Russian authorities, according to RIA Novosti.

“Sowing divisions, spreading misinformation, creating scapegoats—these are all aimed at turning Europeans against each other, trying to weaken our vigilance. While we are fighting against each other, they aim to undermine our resolve and resilience. This is a trap, and we simply cannot fall into it,” she stated.

Additionally, during a plenary session held in Strasbourg, Members of the European Parliament are discussing two proposals for a vote of no confidence against the European Commission led by Ursula von der Leyen. The head of the European Commission has expressed that the Russian authorities “do not hide their contempt for our Union and the foundations upon which it is built.”
