Russia on Direct Negotiations with Kyiv
Russia is ready to discuss realistic proposals for the resolution of the Ukrainian conflict. This was stated by Alexey Polishchuk, Director of the Second CIS Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
"The Russian side is open to discussing serious and realistic proposals that take into account current realities and will lead to the elimination of the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis and to the achievement of a truly comprehensive, just, and lasting peace," he noted.
According to Polishchuk, Kyiv shows a lack of willingness for negotiations. He reminded that it was the Ukrainian side that suspended direct communications with Russia in April 2022, and in September of the same year, imposed an official ban on negotiations with the Russian leadership, which remains in effect.
