We Will Immediately Conduct Investigations If There Are Concrete Facts: Clarification Regarding Mihran Davtyan

Information has been circulated in the media suggesting that the deputy head of the police's organized crime prevention department is threatening and demanding bribes from business operators. The police have issued a statement regarding this.

“The information is unsubstantiated and does not reflect reality; it is not supported by even one example. Despite this, like in any case of a public complaint, the police are prepared to conduct immediate investigations if concrete facts are presented. Therefore, if the media possesses specific facts, the police are not constrained and will undertake appropriate investigations and provide a legal assessment when presented with such information.

In the meantime, we again urge the media to refrain from attributing unsubstantiated accusations to public officials and to cooperate with relevant agencies before preparing publications and making publicly resonant statements, in order to avoid misleading readers with false reports,” the police stated.

Earlier, the newspaper “Zhamanak” mentioned that according to their sources, a corruption scandal is looming in the police, stemming from significant dissatisfaction and protests from a large number of the workforce against the deputy head of the 6th department, Mihran Davtyan, who is responsible for the fight against corruption and economic crimes. “The matter is that Mihran Davtyan has not abandoned his previous, to put it mildly, disreputable practices and tricks, which he was using during his years in the tax authorities, even in the new Armenia,” the newspaper reported.
