European Parliament Member Sends Urgent Inquiries Regarding Armenians Held in Baku

European Parliament member Fernand Cartheiser (Luxembourg) has sent urgent written inquiries to the European Commission, inquiring whether it is possible to send EU representatives to Baku to monitor the judicial proceedings of Armenian prisoners. This information was reported by the European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy (EAFJD).

Azerbaijan recently ordered the closure of the ICRC office in Baku, the only international organization that regularly had access to Armenian detainees. Cartheiser also reminded of Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan's statement that the issue of prisoners remains unresolved, and ensuring their release is a primary humanitarian priority.
