US to Issue One Dollar Coin Featuring Trump

The US Department of the Treasury is considering the possibility of issuing new collectible one-dollar coins featuring the image of President Donald Trump. According to Fox Business, this move is planned in the context of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.

The coin is likely to depict Donald Trump with a raised fist against a backdrop of the American flag. This imagery references a photograph taken after an assassination attempt against him in 2024. The Treasury has confirmed that while the final design has not yet been approved, the department has the legal authority to issue commemorative coins for such occasions.

Commenting on the news, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated, "Oh, I’m not sure he [Trump] has seen it yet, but I’m sure he would be delighted." Commemorative coin issuance is a long-standing tradition in the United States. The most popular coin in history was released in 1986, featuring the image of the Statue of Liberty and selling nearly 15.5 million copies. Successful releases have also been seen in honor of the 250th anniversary of George Washington, the 1984 Summer Olympics held in Los Angeles, and the 200th anniversary of the US Constitution.
