Monument Erected in Tula in Memory of Armenian General

A monument has been erected in the city of Tula, Russia, in memory of the commander of the 340th Rifle Division, General Sargis Martirosyan. In December 1941, the 340th Rifle Division, under the command of Sargis Solomon Martirosyan, participated in the battles for the liberation of the Aleksin region. During the battles, the division destroyed approximately 3,000 Hitler's troops.

With their efforts, 35 settlements were liberated. The division suffered heavy losses in battle, with 256 soldiers killed and 690 wounded. Additionally, 35 individuals went missing. This information was reported by the newspaper 'Tulskie Izvestiya.'
