Trump and Erdogan Discuss Situation in Gaza
Turkish and U.S. Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Donald Trump have held a phone conversation to discuss the situation in Gaza, the Turkish leader's office has announced.
“Today, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump at the latter's request. During the conversation, the bilateral relations between Turkey and the U.S. were discussed, as well as the situation in Gaza,” the office stated.
President Erdogan noted that his visit to Washington on September 25 strengthened relations between Turkey and the U.S., emphasizing the importance of taking steps to enhance cooperation between the two countries in all areas, particularly in the defense industry.
“The Turkish president stated that Turkey is making intensive efforts to ensure peace and tranquility in the region, particularly in Gaza, and welcomes initiatives aimed at achieving this goal. President Erdogan emphasized that Turkey has accelerated diplomatic communications to reach peace and will continue to contribute to the global peace concept, adding that halting Israeli attacks is crucial for the success of peace initiatives in the region,” the office clarified.
