Suspect Confesses to ChatGPT, Arrested in Missouri, USA
In Missouri, USA, authorities have arrested 19-year-old student Ryan Shaffer, who is accused of causing extensive damage to vehicles, as reported by gazeta.ru.
According to Springfield police, following the incident, the young man confessed to his actions in correspondence with ChatGPT and inquired about how to evade responsibility.
The investigation revealed that around 3 AM, Shaffer broke windows, tore off mirrors, damaged hoods, and smashed the windshield wipers of 17 vehicles. Presenting camera footage, he claimed to have noticed a "similarity" between himself and the suspect, after which he agreed to check his iPhone.
Data analysis from the smartphone confirmed Shaffer's presence at the scene. Furthermore, in correspondence with the chatbot, he admitted to the actions he took, mentioning that he had previously evaded similar incidents.
During the conversation, his behavior shifted from aggressive to calmer, but the chat logs also contained threats directed at other individuals. The student has been arrested and charged with intentionally damaging property.
