Request Regarding the Disciplinary Dismissal of Armine Meliksetyan: Aram Vardevanyan
Lawyer Aram Vardevanyan stated on his Facebook page, "A person who violates and undermines criminal law and the law of criminal procedure cannot be a member of the legal community. Such a person cannot aspire to become a member of the legal community. I believe it is time to discuss this issue comprehensively and to provide the proper evaluation of these cases.
The individual who issued the verdict sentencing Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan of Shirak to two years of imprisonment must be evaluated based on the Law Academy's charter: 1) Did they exhibit courteous behavior, and 2) Did they uphold the Academy's good reputation? If the answers to these questions are negative, and I believe it is evident that they are, I am requesting the review of the disciplinary responsibility and dismissal of Armine Meliksetyan, a member of the Law Academy. I expect that the Council of the Law Academy will consider this public request and appropriate action will be taken accordingly," Vardevanyan wrote.
Earlier, Judge Armine Meliksetyan of the First Instance General Jurisdiction Court published the verdict against Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan, sentencing him to two years in prison.
