Mikael Ajapakhyan Sentenced to 2 Years in Prison
Ofelya
The leader of the Shirak Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Archbishop Mikael Ajapakhyan, has been sentenced to 2 years in prison. Judge Armine Meliksetyan announced the verdict.
Those gathered in the courtroom reacted to the announcement of the verdict with shouts of "shame, shame," followed by chants of "holy."
It is worth noting that Ajapakhyan has been accused of calling for a coup. The prosecution had demanded a 2.5-year prison sentence for him. Previously, the court had found Ajapakhyan guilty, and today the sentence was delivered.
