Electric Vehicle Market in Armenia Growing Faster than in Russia, Says Company Director

The electric vehicle market in Armenia is growing 4-5 times faster than in Russia. This was announced to RIA Novosti by Andrey Gurlenov, the General Director of Sitronics Electro.

According to him, there are two main reasons for this growth in Armenia: the nearly zero customs duties on the import of electric vehicles and the free parking for electric cars.

Gurlenov believes that in the next 3-5 years, the market for electric vehicles in the CIS countries will see double-digit growth.

“We will see a rapid increase in the number of charging stations with a capacity of 150 kW, the construction of charging hubs, similar to what is seen in China, the implementation of Plug&Charge technology, and roaming for access to charging stations from different operators,” he stated.

Meanwhile, in Russia, the electric vehicle market has made significant leaps over the past five years, with the fleet of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles increasing more than fourfold, surpassing 138,000 units during this period.

It is noteworthy that in the first nine months of 2025, around 12,000 electric vehicles have been imported into Armenia, compared to approximately 9,000 electric vehicles imported for the entire past year.
