NATO to Pressure Greece to Supply Ukraine with Mirage Fighters
NATO is exerting pressure on Greece to increase support for Ukraine by providing Mirage fighter jets, reports the Kathimerini newspaper.
The publication notes that Athens has once again found itself in the clutches of the North Atlantic Alliance, which is attempting to strengthen its involvement in supporting Kyiv.
It has been clarified that the United States, France, and Eastern NATO member countries are demanding that Athens sell several Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets to intermediary countries, which would subsequently transfer them to Ukraine. Possible intermediary countries include the United States, Germany, the Czech Republic, or Estonia.
The newspaper emphasized that the country's authorities are negatively inclined towards NATO's demands, as they wish to avoid the possibility of applying high-tech systems against Russia.
Earlier, Greece's Foreign Minister Georgios Gerapetritis stated that the country does not intend to participate in providing military security guarantees to Ukraine after the ceasefire.
