Tense Situation as Investigations Enter 'Kilikia' Factory

A tense situation has arisen at the 'Kilikia' factory, where investigations are being conducted surrounding the business of former MP Hakob Hakobyan. According to ArmLur.am, the investigative department of the Armenian Investigative Committee has carried out operations at the factory owned by Hakob Hakobyan and has closed the entire facility.

Investigators from the investigative committee were present at the factory, along with the owner, former MP Hakob Hakobyan, who, however, refused to provide any comments regarding the actions being taken at his factory.

According to information we received, the Investigative Committee's tax authority has already imposed a fine of 450 million drams on businessman Hakob Hakobyan. It was later revealed that the businessman declined to pay the fine, stating, 'What wrong thing have I done and on what grounds should I pay that amount?'

Notably, all this is occurring ahead of elections, and in essence, the political authorities have begun to 'extort' from businesses by imposing unprecedented fines. The closed doors of the factory have been opened. However, it should be mentioned that there has been an ongoing criminal case at the tax authority's investigative department since 2021, which has only now—four years later—come to light.
