Cavusoglu Heads to Iraq
Amid the ongoing tension between Iran and the United States, Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu is set to visit Iraq on January 9 for a one-day trip. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the purpose of the visit is to reduce the regional tensions that have escalated due to recent developments.
According to Ermenihaber, Turkey is actively engaging in diplomatic efforts in this direction. The Foreign Ministry's announcement indicated that bilateral agenda issues would be discussed alongside regional developments during the visit.
It was also reported that Cavusoglu had a phone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, during which they discussed the developments of recent days. Cavusoglu also expressed his condolences to his Iranian counterpart for the victims of a plane crash in Iran.
