Restrictions on the Use of Smart Devices in Yerevan Schools: City Hall
In schools operating under the jurisdiction of Yerevan, the city administration plans to restrict the use of smart devices such as phones, watches, and tablets with the aim of enhancing the effectiveness of the educational process and fostering a positive psychological environment at schools. This was announced by the Yerevan City Hall.
"The experience from around the world is very clear: In England, when schools banned mobile phones, students' exam results improved by an average of 6%, and among those with lower performance, the improvement was 14%. In Norway, the mobile phone ban not only enhanced students' grades but also reduced the need for psychological support. Following the mobile ban in French schools, there was a noted decrease in bullying and cyberbullying, and children began to play and interact more during recess. Teachers observe that classes have become more effective, while parents report that their children are more calm and focused at school. Many students say they are communicating more with each other. We also want to create a school environment in Yerevan where children can learn without unnecessary disruptions, foster genuine friendships, and feel that school is a space for knowledge and trust," the statement reads.
