Postponement of Taxes and Cancellation of Duties: Changes Expected at Border Checkpoints

The government has approved a legislative package aimed at significantly reducing congestion at Armenia's land border checkpoints.

The main proposed changes include:

• Foreign vehicle drivers will not have to pay road and environmental taxes immediately upon crossing the border, with a grace period of up to 15 days provided for payment.
• The state fee charged for transit declarations at the border will be abolished.
• Freight vehicles that remain in Armenia for more than 15 days due to impassable roads will be exempt from road tax for those days.

It should be noted that these changes still require approval by the National Assembly.
