Suicide Ruled Out: Armenian Ambassador in Russia on Boris Avagyan's Death
The Armenian Ambassador to Russia, Gurgen Arsenyan, has ruled out the theory of suicide in the case of businessman and former Artsakh official Boris Avagyan, who was found dead at the Armenian Consulate in St. Petersburg.
It was previously reported that Avagyan had escaped from the Kronstadt court the day before his death. Initial reports suggested that he had committed suicide.
"Such a thing is excluded. He cut his own artery; it was done behind a closed door. Frankly, I am not in the mood to discuss anything more until the relevant authorities speak," Arsenyan told Haykakan Zhamanak.
Addressing the question of how Avagyan had accessed the consulate building, Arsenyan noted that the entrance is open and anyone can enter the consulate premises for services or other matters. The consulate is not considered a restricted area.
The Armenian Ambassador emphasized that Avagyan came to the consulate "on his own legs, of his own free will."
