It is Incorrect to Claim that Yerevan Has the Worst Air Quality in the Region, Says Ministry
Recently, during an international conference, a claim was made that the air quality in Yerevan is the worst in the South Caucasus. This was reported by the Ministry of Environment.
“We thank for raising concerns about the air quality in Yerevan. Air quality monitoring in the Republic of Armenia is conducted by the Ministry of Environment's Hydrometeorological and Monitoring Center. According to official data, permissible concentration exceedances are occasionally recorded in Yerevan, especially concerning dust and nitrogen dioxide, but these do not indicate an extremely high level of pollution.
Based on these official measurements, it is incorrect to assert that Yerevan has the worst air quality in the region. It is important to note that some online platforms disseminate data that is not based on official monitoring data. Such information should not be considered reliable or used for comparative assessments.
The Ministry of Environment urges the public and partners to rely solely on official data.
