KP Members Once Again Babble About the 44-Day War: Armen Ashotyann

The KP faction is once again babbling about the 44-day war, forgetting the dozens of facts and arguments that prove that this war was instigated and brought about by their leader. This was stated by the Vice President of the Republican Party of Armenia, Armen Ashotyann.

“Here are a few real facts regarding the opportunities to prevent that war.

How many times have we noted that these incompetent authorities created all the prerequisites for the 44-day war—diplomatic, military-political, and moral?

How many times have we discussed why this war came, and why it turned out to be so long, bloody, and solitary for Armenia?

Allow me to briefly list how such a war could have been avoided, emphasizing not the theoretical opportunities, but rather the documented facts regarding the traitorous policies implemented by the official Yerevan in various directions since 2018:

  1. Not renouncing our previous negotiation package, declaring that the process starts from our own point.
  2. Becoming informed about the negotiation content not from Ilham Aliyev, but from the Armenian negotiators.
  3. Not effectively rejecting or putting into question the fundamental principles proposed by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, something that Nikol Pashinyan has publicly done multiple times.
  4. Not putting yourself in a ridiculous position, especially when dealing with the world’s superpowers, from which your people’s security and the prospects of Nagorno-Karabakh greatly depend.
  5. Not undermining relations with strategic ally Russia through cynical statements and specific harmful actions.
  6. Not providing Aliyev with a serving dish of agreements from Vienna, St. Petersburg, and Geneva from 2016-2017, which, if implemented, would have created powerful mechanisms to prevent wars, while the lack of implementation left Azerbaijan hanging in negotiations.
  7. Reminding also that this treacherous step was taken by Pashinyan in Dushanbe, and after the 2018 change of power, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs ceased to demand Azerbaijan's compliance with those agreements, with the Armenian side's consent.
  8. At the December 6, 2018 Ministerial Council meeting of the OSCE Foreign Ministers in Milan, not accepting a five-party declaration (3 co-chairs + Armenia + Azerbaijan), which, instead of Armenian-favorable fundamental principles, introduced the 'just and lasting peace resolution,' a vague principle to say the least.
  9. Not making Facebook posts about new 'Munich principles' for the Karabakh issue while inebriated, which became a deadly disgrace for Armenian diplomacy in the eyes of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.
  10. Not making irresponsible populist statements that can be skillfully used by the adversary and further strain relationships between the co-chair countries and Armenia, justifying the aggressions of Azerbaijan.
  11. With the Nagorno-Karabakh issue at hand, not declaring 'democracy' as the calling card of Armenia's foreign policy.
  12. Not diminishing the subjectivity of Nagorno-Karabakh in all directions, including the rejection of the idea and fact of the second Armenian state in the national security strategy of Armenia adopted in July 2020.
  13. Not dividing society, maintaining a united patriotic spirit both in the army and in the populace.
  14. Not ignoring Turkey's anti-Armenian role, leaving the assessment of the country's security environment to the unqualified and ignorant.
  15. Not altering the RA Armed Forces modernization program, purchase plan, replacing modern air defense systems and UAVs with expensive and unarmed, or old and painted toys, due to populism and incompetence.
  16. Not discrediting the army, the command structure of the armed forces, and the heroes of the first Nagorno-Karabakh war.
  17. Not replacing experienced commanders who have gone through wars with accommodating individuals due to a lack of understanding of the army’s needs or fear of possible dissent from commanders with willpower.
  18. Not diminishing the victory attained in the first Nagorno-Karabakh war, subordinating it to the 'Velvet Revolution.'
  19. Following the adversary's actions, noting that the decision for Azerbaijan to purchase Turkish Bayraktars was made in April-May 2020, and urgently taking appropriate countermeasures.

These are just some of the unforgivable sins, mistakes, and intentions committed by the capitulators since 2018, which, had they not occurred or had the opposite actions been taken, could have avoided the war, could have spared us such a long and bloody conflict, and could have saved us from such irreversible and heavy losses, and we could have avoided being alone for 44 days of war without the support of the international community or our military ally,” wrote Armen Ashotyann, Vice President of the Republican Party of Armenia.
