I Have Been Interrogated by the Investigation Committee; I Have Witness Status, Says Avet Babayan on Journalist's Assault Case
“I have not seen Hakob Karapetyan, I do not know him. We condemn violence. As the former press secretary of the Yerevan mayor, he should not have crossed the line and used sexual insults,” said Avet Babayan, the acting head of the Yerevan Municipality’s Public Order Protection Service.
He added, “I have been interrogated by the Investigation Committee and I have witness status. I hope that very soon the law enforcement agencies will provide answers to all questions.”
Babayan also noted, “In my internal conviction, this is a political order, because the lies spread by Hakob Karapetyan were continued by Hayk Marutyan. Did Mr. Marutyan also lie to him, or did he make grandiose statements knowing the truth?”
Previously, journalist Hakob Karapetyan claimed that a municipal official of Yerevan had committed violence against him. However, Avet Babayan refutes those allegations and emphasizes that he has no connection to the incident.
