EU and America Finalize New Sanctions Against Russia
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrault has announced that a new package of anti-Russian sanctions between the European Union and the United States has been agreed upon and will be adopted in the coming days, as reported by RIA Novosti.
According to him, the 19th package of sanctions against Russia has been confirmed by the United States since the inauguration of President Donald Trump.
It should be noted that on September 19, the European Commission presented its proposal for new restrictions, which are expected to include a ban on the import of Russian liquefied natural gas starting in 2027, various measures concerning imports and exports, sanctions against the banking sector, and personal sanctions against several individuals and organizations.
According to the report, the pressure from Western sanctions intensified after the events in Ukraine. This has led to an increase in electricity, fuel, and food prices in Europe and the United States.
Since February 2022, the EU has implemented 18 packages of sanctions against Russia. However, after the introduction of the new package, the tightening of the EU's sanctions policy is not expected to yield the effectiveness that Europe hopes for.
