Failure of Counteroffensive Program: Comments from the State Duma on Zaluzhnyi's Statement
The words of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, about a deadlock at the front are related to the failure of Kyiv's offensive. This was commented to Lenta.ru by Aleksei Chepan, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma's International Affairs Committee.
"First of all, his statement speaks to the fact that the so-called counteroffensive has completely failed. They are trying to find some explanations for this failure. Today, a large number of positions are surrendered to ours by NATO weapons (...). This testifies to the complete failure of America's plans for the counteroffensive," he added.
The deputy believes that Valerii Zaluzhnyi is thus trying to influence the United States to receive new weapons that could change the situation on the battlefield in favor of Ukraine.
It should be noted that in an article for Britain's The Economist, Valerii Zaluzhnyi stated that the military conflict with the Russian Federation has "entered a deadlock" and that one should not expect breakthroughs from either side on the front.
