Trump Threatens Venezuela Over Refusal to Accept Deported Citizens
U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that Venezuelan authorities must accept all of their citizens who have been deported from the United States, or face consequences. As he wrote on the social media platform Truth Social, the U.S. wants Venezuela to 'immediately accept all detainees and patients from psychiatric hospitals.'
According to Trump, this refers to individuals whom the Venezuelan leadership 'forced to leave for the U.S.' He added, 'These monsters have caused serious harm or even killed thousands of people. Take them back from our country, or you will pay an extremely high price.'
The Trump administration has repeatedly demanded that Venezuelan authorities accept their deported citizens and threatened new sanctions if they refuse. The White House has previously asserted that the Venezuelan government has intentionally sent members of the Tren de Aragua international criminal gang to the U.S.
