Syria's Flag Raised in Washington After More Than a Decade
The flag of the Syrian Arab Republic has been raised at the Syrian embassy in Washington for the first time in many years. The ceremony was attended by Syria's Foreign Minister Assad Hasan al-Shayban, who personally hoisted the Syrian flag on the embassy building, which had been closed since March 18, 2014.
According to the Syrian news agency SANA, al-Shayban described the event as a "historic moment" and emphasized that the raising of the flag "confirms Syria's legitimacy and its diplomatic presence on the international stage."
