NATO to Defend Its Eastern Flank Airspace with Turkish Air Surveillance Systems

NATO will protect its eastern flank airspace using the Turkish air surveillance system. Following recent incidents involving drones, Poland and Romania are planning to utilize the Turkish Merops air surveillance system. According to DPA news agency, exercises related to the system are set to begin soon.

The agency reports that in response to the recent drone incidents, NATO partners hope for the short-term deployment of the Turkish air surveillance system. DPA states that initial steps in this direction will be taken as early as next week. The system can be installed on helicopters and is capable of detecting enemy systems through clouds and dust.
