France Will Soon Officially Recognize the State of Palestine: Macron
Ofelya
French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that Paris will officially recognize the state of Palestine during the United Nations General Assembly session in New York.
However, according to The New York Times, Israel and the United States do not support such a decision. “During his visit to Jerusalem this week, Secretary of State Marco Rubio referred to any steps towards recognizing the state of Palestine as symbolic and stated that it would only encourage Hamas. He warned that new moves towards the creation of a Palestinian state could provoke a response from Israel, possibly alluding to recent calls by right-wing Israeli ministers for the annexation of the West Bank,” the newspaper writes.
