EU Could Impose Tariffs on Russian Oil Supplied to Hungary and Slovakia

According to Bloomberg, the EU may impose tariffs on the existing supplies of Russian oil delivered via the "Druzhba" pipeline to Hungary and Slovakia.

The tariffs related to the "Druzhba" pipeline are being discussed separately from the new package of EU sanctions. Unlike sanctions, tariffs can be adopted by a majority vote in the EU rather than requiring unanimous agreement.

As Bloomberg points out, such measures would also meet the demands of U.S. President Donald Trump for the EU to completely abandon Russian oil and gas.
