Work and Leave: Russia Adopts New Approach to Migrants
The Russian Ministry of Economic Development has announced a shift towards a 'come, work, and leave' approach for migrants. In light of the current labor shortage, Russia does not plan to rely heavily on migrant labor in the long term, stated Maxim Reshetnikov, the Minister of Economic Development of Russia.
"If we are to develop in times of labor shortages, it is clear that circumstances will necessitate attracting migrants. However, we still need to complete our ongoing processes, using the principle of 'come, work, and leave' when it comes to migration," the minister said.
According to him, migration is viewed solely as a temporary measure, with a primary focus on increasing labor productivity.
