The Cause of the Conflict Between Alen Simonyan and Hayk Sargsyan: Details
Today, anonymous letters have circulated in the media, presenting details about the conflict that arose between National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan and My Step Alliance MP Hayk Sargsyan. Hayk Sargsyan has formally requested the board of the My Step Alliance party to "remove Alen Simonyan from the party," according to the letter.
According to the same publication, the conflict originated over a well-known bill in the National Assembly regarding the increase of taxes on betting companies, during which the Speaker of the National Assembly allegedly demonstrated a lenient stance.
In order to obtain more information about the situation, Auroranews reached out to the spokesperson for the Speaker of the National Assembly, Movses Harutyunyan. Just moments ago, the My Step Alliance party issued a statement noting that a disciplinary procedure has been initiated against Hayk Sargsyan, resulting in a severe reprimand for him.
"Before the vote on the issue, Hayk Sargsyan submitted a request to initiate a disciplinary procedure against Alen Simonyan. The supervisory commission invited Hayk Sargsyan twice to provide explanations regarding his request. However, Hayk Sargsyan was unable to attend due to his absence from the Republic of Armenia. The My Step Alliance Supervisory Commission found no grounds to initiate a disciplinary procedure against Alen Simonyan," the statement reads.
