State Officials' Wives and Children to Visit Gyms at Taxpayer Expense
State officials and public servants' family members will visit gyms at the expense of taxpayers. This decision was made today at the government's regular session, with a corresponding amendment to an already existing resolution.
The issue is that according to the law on the remuneration of individuals holding state positions and public service offices, family members of state officials and public servants are provided a social package, the services of which are determined by the government.
Thus, the government has decided to add another service to the existing ones - the opportunity to use sports and wellness complexes, swimming pools, and other sports organizations free of charge. In return, the state, or more precisely, the ordinary taxpayer of the Republic of Armenia, will cover the costs.
The government justifies this initiative by stating that it will contribute to the formation of a “healthy lifestyle” and physical fitness for the families of officials and public servants.
It is noteworthy that according to the current regulations, employees of the state apparatus are already provided with healthcare services, and a social package that includes repayment of monthly mortgage payments, educational expenses, and recreational services within the Republic of Armenia and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic at the expense of the state.
