Gyumri Day Will Be Held Traditionally, Says Gyumri Municipality
The Gyumri Municipality has issued a statement refuting rumors that the celebration of "Gyumri Day" will not take place. "This year, just like every year, 'Gyumri Day' will be celebrated in the traditional manner. The rumors and speculations circulating about the cancellation of the event or other reasons for not celebrating are not true. Some issues related to the holiday have only been postponed temporarily due to the Culture Department of the Municipality not submitting a complete financial report. The head of the Culture Department has already received a reprimand. Considering the expectations of the residents and traditions, the celebration will definitely occur, and the city will mark 'Gyumri Day' with its traditional festivities," the statement reads.
Previously, the Council's Civil Contract faction initiated an extraordinary meeting. On the agenda was the question of organizing the "Gyumri Day" celebration. "The people of Gyumri cannot be deprived of their holiday and the opportunity to celebrate a day that has become a tradition honorably," it stated.
