Iran's Supreme Leader Appoints Successors in Case of Assassination Attempt

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has selected three candidates to assume his position in the event of an assassination attempt, according to a report by the New York Times referencing sources in Tehran.

“When the country is at war, the Ayatollah wants to ensure a swift and orderly transition and preserve his legacy,” the article states.

According to sources, Khamenei is currently hiding in his underground bunker and primarily communicates with his commanders through a trusted person. The report notes that the Supreme Leader is deliberately delaying his electronic communications to make it more difficult for enemies to locate him.

Previously, media outlets reported that Ali Khamenei had been relocated to a specially secured area under the protection of a secret elite unit. Earlier, a powerful explosion had been heard near the potential location of Khamenei's bunker.
