We Must Increase Pressure on Russia: German Foreign Minister

The German Foreign Minister, Johann Wadephul, believes that NATO countries need to strengthen the alliance’s eastern flank and increase pressure on Russia.

"Russia must know that we will always respond," he stated while commenting on the incidents involving unmanned aerial vehicles in Poland and Romania. He emphasized that it is crucial for NATO to enhance its defensive capabilities within the alliance’s boundaries.

"And this includes, first and foremost, air defense which can respond better and more quickly. We have defensive systems in Greece and Spain. We need to consider the possibility of deploying them directly to NATO's eastern flank," Wadephul said.

On September 12, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced the launch of the "Eastern Guardian" operation to protect the alliance’s eastern airspace.
