Avinyan on Transportation Reforms in the Capital

We have added 171 new buses to the routes, replacing old private Hyundai buses. This was stated by Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan during a press conference.

According to him, the number of trolleybuses has also increased. “This year we have a program to purchase 45 trolleybuses, and we will soon transfer the advance payment. In the first quarter of 2026, we expect to introduce 45 trolleybuses into the network, which will allow us to completely renew the trolleybus network; we will no longer see the old trolleybuses on the streets,” he added.

Avinyan also spoke about the unified ticketing system: “We have implemented a unified ticketing system. With all its challenges and shortcomings, we need to understand that we have transitioned from a 35-year-old system to a cashless variant. This new system currently has no paper holders. We have been able to fully realize this program.”
