US Congress Will Not Act Against Russia Without Trump's Agreement

The US Congress is not planning to attempt to unilaterally adopt a new package of sanctions against Russia, and this step will only occur after coordinating actions with US President Donald Trump. This was announced by the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Republican Mike Johnson, during a broadcast on CBS News.

“Congress really cannot do that on its own, as, of course, the president must sign any legislation we pass. Therefore, it needs to be a partnership, but we have presented it to the supreme commander,” Johnson stated. “President Donald Trump is a strong and courageous leader on the world stage. He has worked for peace across the globe and has resolved other conflicts in ways that no one else has. And that’s why we believe he can use that same strength and approach to finally end this war in Ukraine. Everyone in America wants this bloodshed to stop, and President Trump is making that happen,” Johnson added.
