Train Derails in Leningrad Region
A diesel locomotive has derailed near the Semrino station in the Leningrad region's Gatchina district. The driver died in an ambulance, reported regional governor Alexander Drozdienko.
"Rescuers have arrived in the Luzhsky district, and investigators are examining the possibility of sabotage. Two ambulances have been dispatched from Saint Petersburg to the scene of the emergency, and suburban train services on the Siverskaya-Luga route have been canceled. Train traffic is blocked in both directions. The operations of ten suburban trains have been postponed," Drozdienko added.
In the Gatchina area, law enforcement agencies have intensified their efforts on all types of transport, and the number of buses on the Luga-Gatchina-Saint Petersburg route will be increased, the regional leader noted.
Later, Ukrainian media, citing sources from special services, reported that explosions on railway lines in Russia were organized by Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate and special operations forces. According to their statement, mines were placed on the Kursk-Oryol railway yesterday. During the demining operation, several Russian National Guard rescuers were killed.
