US Official Promises to Arrest Netanyahu

One of the leading candidates for New York City mayor, Zohran Mamdani, has pledged to issue an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if elected, according to the New York Times following an interview with the political figure.

"New York City Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani stated that if elected, he would instruct the New York Police Department to arrest the Israeli Prime Minister should he appear in the city," the newspaper reported.

Experts consulted by the publication indicated that Netanyahu's arrest would be practically impossible and could violate federal law. Nevertheless, Mamdani's promise is expected to elicit a strong reaction in New York, home to a significant Jewish population.
