Roy Keane's Harsh Criticism of Ireland's Defeat to Armenia

The former legendary captain and midfielder of the English club Manchester United and the Ireland national team, Roy Keane, has harshly criticized his country's national team for their defeat in the away match against Armenia during the second round of the qualifying phase for the 2026 World Cup in the European zone (1:2).

"It's clear that the loss to Armenia is painful. Of course, Ireland has had unsuccessful results in the past as well, but if you lose to teams you should be beating, then you have serious problems. Ireland has a few players who carry themselves as if they are great players, but if they were to end up in a top club, they wouldn't last even two minutes. Some of them play in the Premier League, but they are not that good there either. They are just surviving. Many play in the Championship. Ireland is still far from competing at a high level," Keane's words are quoted by the Irish Examiner.

Let us remind you that the return match between Armenia and Ireland will take place on October 14, at 22:45 Yerevan time.
