Opposition Must Feel Part of Power Everywhere: Aghazaryan
In the country, elections are taking place, and one political force receives 51% of the votes, while another gains 49%. Naturally, the power belongs to the one with 51%, but when we project these percentages onto society, we see that they are overall equal. This was stated today by MP Hovik Aghazaryan during the discussions on the annual report of the State Revenue Committee in the National Assembly.
“51% is not very different from 49%, but you see, the 51% tells the 49% that they do not exist. How can that be? The Prime Minister also addressed an opposition MP, stating that you are part of the power, and that is true. Of course, there are certain regulations today; the opposition forces receive some positions and portfolios in Parliament. That is very good, but it needs to extend beyond Parliament, and this ratio should also be preserved outside to ensure that the opposition feels like part of the power everywhere. This will benefit the economy, democracy, and other aspects,” said the MP.
Aghazaryan proposed handing over the Anti-Corruption Committee to the opposition to investigate manifestations of corruption within the government and gain political dividends. “The government truly fighting against corruption, along with the Prosecutor’s Office, the National Security Service, and others, will give appropriate legal process to all of this, and everyone will benefit,” he concluded.
