Tensions Exist, Wounds Are Fresh on Both Our Side and Theirs - National Assembly President
“The Armenian side, just like in the case of Iran, knows what we're going through, and it will be the same in this case,” stated National Assembly President Alen Simonyan, addressing the issue of providing Azerbaijan with an uninterrupted route along the "Trump route." He added, “There are scanners; the vehicle will pass through there. The work now focuses on this.”
Regarding Aliyev's statements that they do not wish to see Armenian border guards, Simonyan said: “It concerns the fact that there is tension, the wounds are fresh on both our side and theirs. And this is about face-to-face communication.” According to him, in 5-10 years, there will not be a need for such interactions.
Simonyan also mentioned that it is not the case that the majority of Armenians want to see the face of an Azerbaijani border guard. “And that is bad because we are neighbors, and over time, this will also pass because the same Armenians and Azerbaijanis do business, partner with each other in Moscow, see each other, and the same goes for Georgia and other countries.”
