Orban: von der Leyen Should Resign from the Presidency of the European Commission
The Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, has stated that Ursula von der Leyen should resign from her position as President of the European Commission (EC) due to her aggressive views. His remarks were cited by Hungary's government spokesperson Zoltan Kovacs on his page on the X social media platform.
“The head of the European Commission has made a harsh political statement, and we have responded: the European Parliament's ‘Patriots of Europe’ group has submitted a motion of no confidence. Von der Leyen must resign,” the politician noted after an incident related to drones in Poland.
Orban also emphasized that von der Leyen threatened to cut EU funding for countries that do not support Brussels' policies. Previously, the progressive alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament proposed a motion of no confidence against European Commission head Ursula von der Leyen. It has been noted that the vote could take place as early as October, with “only 26 signatures required to reach the threshold.”
