No Proposal to Amend the Text of the Independence Declaration – Galyan
There is no proposal to amend the text of the Republic of Armenia's Independence Declaration in the new package sent to the council. This was stated by Justice Minister Surbhi Galyan during a briefing after the government meeting.
"I don’t believe that the amendment of the RA Independence Declaration will find a place in the materials sent this time and in the materials planned for the near future. However, as soon as it finds a place and is discussed, there will be public notification," Galyan noted.
Regarding the new materials for the constitutional reforms in Armenia, the minister informed that a new series has already been sent to the council members. They plan to hold a meeting during the next week if the date chosen is convenient for the majority of the council members.
The minister also mentioned that they will gradually intensify the council’s work to have a prepared text for the time period they promised. It should be recalled that in late March 2025, Prime Minister Pashinyan announced that the Armenian authorities plan to hold a referendum on the adoption of a new constitution in 2027.
