Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister on the Need for Open Borders

On April 22, during the 81st session of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) taking place in Bangkok, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan participated and delivered a speech at the discussion titled "Special Body on the Situations of Least Developed, Landlocked Developing and Small Island Developing States." This was reported by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In his speech, the Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of the support provided by the UNESCAP in addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by landlocked developing countries (LLDCs).

He highlighted that Armenia, as a developing country without access to the sea, reaffirms the necessity of inclusive connectivity, open borders, and uninterrupted operating roads and transport infrastructures. In this context, he referred to the Armenian government's "Peace Crossroad" concept, reiterating Armenia's commitment to establishing peace and cooperation in the region aimed at ensuring the smooth movement of people, goods, and services.

The Deputy Foreign Minister also reaffirmed Armenia's readiness to work closely with all concerned partners to promote equitable and non-discriminatory connectivity in the South Caucasus and beyond.
