You Have a Problem: to Undermine Established Peace. I Will Threaten in Such a Way That Pressure Will Increase. Pashinyan
I have only announced peace once, and that was in my message on August 18. In that message, I stated that I would respond to any questions. This was mentioned by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a Q&A session in the National Assembly.
“Yes, there is the issue of the captives, and daily work is being done in that direction. You say August 8 is an electoral campaign. Is that a good thing then? It is said that this is capitulation. A rational political force comes and says, ‘People, I have capitulated,’ is that a good thing? If that is not a good thing, and we’re doing an electoral campaign on that basis, be glad, because we will do an electoral campaign on a bad thing, with all the consequences that follow. Why are you sad? But if it is a good thing, we are not doing an electoral campaign; we are doing that good thing,” the Prime Minister said.
Speaking about demarcation in Tavush, Pashinyan noted: “I invite everyone to go see the village of Kiran. When they were mourning, they asked what happened to the church of Voskepar. Today, they should go see Kiran. Today, Kiran is a demonstrative settlement. It is said that people are going. In its best times, Kiran had 84 houses, today 50 houses are being built in Kiran. Will the authors of that mourning respond to their mourning?” he added.
To the question of whether the current Prime Minister brought peace to Armenia through such steps, Pashinyan emphasized: “I have brought real independence, real statehood, and the future that we all dreamt of. That peace is today. Today, a plane is flying from Zvartnots to Kapan, that is peace, as people are living without fear. Peace has already arrived. You have one problem: to undermine the established peace, I will not allow you to do that, don’t even dream about it. If it comes to the point of threat, I will threaten in such a way that pressure will increase, especially when it reaches the state interests and security of Armenia. Whoever threatens the independence and sovereignty of Armenia, I will threaten in such a way that pressure will increase,” Pashinyan stated.
