The Situation is Deteriorating: Nepalese Army Deploys Troops Amid Ongoing Protests
In cooperation with other security forces, the Nepalese army has deployed troops in the country due to continuing unrest. This was reported by Khabarhub.
“Starting at 10:00 PM Nepal time, the Nepalese army began to deploy troops in coordination with other security forces, as large-scale looting, arson, and vandalism continue to spiral out of control,” the portal stated in a message posted on social media platform X.
It was previously reported that participants in the riots in Kathmandu had set fire to the residence of Nepal's President Ram Chandra Paudel. Before that, military personnel had evacuated the politician, while the office of the head of state denied rumors of his resignation.
The death toll from anti-government protests in Nepal has reached 22, with hundreds injured. The situation in Nepal has escalated after the government banned 26 social media platforms for not being registered in accordance with authorities' demands.
