Zakharova Comments on 'Attack' on Russian Embassy in Sweden

Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told Izvestia that Sweden has lost control over its internal and external security since joining NATO. This was her comment regarding the attack on the Russian embassy in Sweden.

Zakharova reminded that Moscow has repeatedly drawn the attention of Swedish authorities to the inadequate security of the embassy and has received promises to do everything possible to prevent new incidents.

"Ultimately, such provocations pose a threat not only to the diplomatic mission but also to the city's residents," she noted.

On September 7, a drone dropped paint on the Russian embassy in Sweden. Similar incidents have occurred repeatedly over the past year, including twice during the summer of 2025.
